Lunch and a new hat

My little Punkin's lunch today utilized some leftovers from last night and some fresh fruit and veggies.

We have leftover polish kielbasa, yogurt dip for the apples below, rice, and some cauliflower and grape tomatoes.  The yogurt dip I make with fat-free plain greek yogurt, peanut butter, and a bit of cinnamon, it is delicious!  Punkin even eats it just like that when the apples are gone :)  I've been looking at different bento style lunchboxes and I have decided to purchase a Yumbox for Punkin.  I have LunchBots Uno on the way for me that should be here tomorrow.  I'm really excited to go on fun picnics this summer :)

In crafting news, I finally got around to taking a look at this Cabbage Patch Kid hat that people have been going mad for.  I decided it would be easy enough for me to make without a pattern so I just decided to wing it.  It turned out pretty darned cute!  A bit tight for Punkin but it fits her little cousin perfectly.  I will gift it to her and make Punkin one slightly bigger.  Of course with all the yarn I have I don't have any great colors for these hats, the best I could rummage up was this gold color.

And here is the baby in it.

Two bento meals

Yesterday my little munchkin went to her grandma's for the afternoon so we didn't have a bento lunch.  So instead I made her a bento supper:

I made some corn dog muffins, peas and carrots, ketchup for the corn dogs, and some sliced pears.  This was the first time making the corn dog muffins and they turned out pretty good.  I made some larger ones in rectangle shape for the man.  Very easy, just a box of Jiffy corn muffin mix (prepared) and sliced up hotdogs.

Today she gobbled up her whole lunch with no prodding at all.

Grape tomato and cucumber, sliced banana, Ritz crackers, turkey roll-ups, and cheddar cheese.  Since she ate so well I let her have one of the chocolate chip cookies I was baking for a friend who just lost his dad.

Bento Lunches

I have recently become a fan of Bento style lunches.  What an easy way to make nutritious lunches for kids and adults alike!  I'm especially excited to start this with my 2-year-old daughter.  I made the first one yesterday and it was a big hit!

We have turkey roll ups, cheddar triangles, unsweetened applesauce with cinnamon, grape tomatoes and cucumbers, and pretzels.

Bela loved the colorful containers :)  I just used a Ziploc container bottom to hold the silicone baking molds in place for now.  I'm looking at all the different Bento lunch boxes and trying to decide which ones to get for us.

I can't wait to make more of these lunches and get more creative as I go!
